Synopsis Drawing on Nancy’s Fraser’s radical historical materialist epistemology this talk will think through the systemic dynamics of tourism capital accumulation and its entanglement within multiple, intersecting crisis or – ‘polycrisis’. In the light of what the author considers to be a continuing vacuum within critical tourism studies, the talk argues for a rigorous political economy inspired interrogation of the structural drivers of tourism capitalism and institutional configurations of power through which the origins of the current conjuncture can be traced. |
